The new SST era is officially start now ! BIG changes on Malaysian taxation regime which businesses owners must take it seriously!
 
SST is a single-stage tax system, mainly charged on prescribed taxable manufacturers and services industry. Manufacturers will be charged Sales Tax at the rate of 5% or 10%, while businesses in the services industry will be taxed at the rate of 6%. The government has also listed many goods under the Sales Tax Exemption Listing.

Liable to be SST registered for annual sales exceeded RM500,000

Tax reform from GST to SST is a BIG change, generally from accounting, tax return submission procedures, tax codes and exemptions matters are all changed, what is taxable, what is exempted from SST, the accounting personnel of the company must know clearly.
The SST taxable threshold is from annual sales of RM500,000, around 100,000 businesses are required to be SST registered. This new SST model is stricter than the old model, loopholes of the old model is solved to prevent tax avoidance! Hence, businesses must be fully prepared in advanced to avoid pitfalls.

Mr. Zen specialises in both direct and indirect Malaysian taxation. He has been involved in the tax compliance and tax advisory works for more than 10 years in various industries ranging from manufacturing, trading (retail & business services), franchisor/ licensor, education, investment holding, investment dealing, forestation, agriculture, foundation, association and trade union.


He is active in giving tax related talks and seminars such as budget talk and tax updates seminar. He is also a qualified consultant and trainer on Goods and Services Tax (GST) by the Royal Malaysian Customs (RMC) and Ministry of Finance (MoF). He is a licensed GST Tax Agent and Tax Agent, approved by the MoF. He is also a Council Member in the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM).
